ST 3.1.2.x Firmware Unlock: Handshake 2 Mode

This tutorial applies only to Seagate hard drives that use Handshake 2/NEW or exchange commands 2/NEW mode for firmware unlocking.

Note: Traditional ROM structures apply the default handshake mode. After unlocking, the remaining drives require Handshake 2 mode. The criteria for determining whether Handshake 2 mode is applicable are:

The terminal interface repeatedly reports feedback similar to corrupted ROM, such as "SEA3 Boot ROM 2.0......", and the status light below shows a powered-off state, as shown in the screenshot below:

Currently, the family IDs applicable to Handshake 2 mode include:

A2, B5, BC, C6, C8, partial 91, 97, and B4 family series, as well as the 8C-ST1000LX015-SSHD SSHD.

Since the ROMs of the C6 and C8 families cannot be accessed directly and have a different chip type and packaging processes, we will create separate unlocking tutorial for them.
